Steve Bell
Chairman
Steve is an energy executive and geoscientist with over 40 years’ experience. He has led global frontier exploration on five continents, across deep-water, desert, jungle, and mountain terrains. He was the founder, CEO, and chairman of two private-equity companies, CASA and Remora Energy, backed by Warburg-Pincus, Temasek, and First Reserve. Prior roles include global president of BHP Petroleum, where he led their worldwide E&P and business-development activities. Steve was also President of AEC International and VP International Exploration for Apache Corporation, both during key periods of significant global growth. Throughout his career he has advised and supported research and investment into energy and energy-transition themes, including CCUS, DAC, geothermal, and petroleum E&P technologies, focusing on coordination through academic, societal, and governmental institutions.
He has served on numerous boards and councils throughout his career, including the boards of the American Petroleum Institute, National Ocean Industries Association, and Domestic Petroleum Council, and served as chairman of Carbon America, Delonex Energy, CASA Exploration, Remora Energy, and the Energy and Geosciences Institute, among others. He currently serves on the Leadership Council and chairs the Science Advisory Board for Conservation International for the past 9 years. He is also a founding director and advisor of The Cultural Sanctuaries Foundation.
Steve received an AMP from The Wharton School of Business, an MSc in geology from the University of Southwest Louisiana, and a BSc in geology from Rider College, New Jersey.
